Repair. Reinforce. Restore.

A 50-year-old female with a history of diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and hypothyroidism was diagnosed with invasive right breast carcinoma. She previously underwent a right mastectomy followed by deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) free flap breast reconstruction. Post-reconstruction, the right breast was smaller than her native left breast, prompting consideration for symmetry.

To address this, a Wise-pattern inferior pedicle reduction mammoplasty was performed on the left breast. During the procedure, 485 grams of tissue were removed to achieve the desired size and contour. Additionally, a 7.5 cm × 15 cm GRAFIX XC Membrane graft was applied to the inferior pedicle beneath the inverted-T incision to support healing and structural integrity.

Postoperative course: At 2 weeks postoperatively, the inverted-T incision was completely healed. At 5 months postoperatively, the incision remained closed, and the patient reported satisfaction with the shape of her left breast, indicating both functional and cosmetic success of the procedure.

A 74-year-old male with a history of CAD, hyperlipidemia, and HTN presented with a bulky upper abdominal skin melanoma. The patient underwent resection of the abdominal wall mass. 

Following resection, a single application of GRAFIX Membrane was placed in the wound bed. A 3M Adaptic Non-Adhering Dressing was placed between the membrane and the black foam of a Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) system. The NPWT was set to 125mm Hg in continuous mode. The initial NPWT dressing was removed after 7 days, followed by bi-weekly NPWT dressing changes using the same settings. At 10 weeks post-operatively, the wound measured 1 x 2 x 0 cm.
